The Triangle Shirtwaist Co. Fire caused 146 deaths, most were Italian and Jewish immigrant women. Most of the women that worked there had an age range of 16 to 23 years old. The building managers had locked all doors in order to keep the women from taking unauthorized breaks. Due to the locking of the doors the women could not escape from the fire.
