Black Hawk War...
The Black Hawk War was fought in 1832. Black Hawk, a Sauk leader wanted to take back the land that had been given up by the 1804 treaty. Black Hawks plans were to avoid bloodshed but did not achieve it. The Black Hawk war was a brief conflict that started with the U.S. militia opening fire on the Native Americans and Black Hawk fighting back.
Trail of Tears...
The Trail of Tears was started because of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Andrew Jackson was a president that believed that the land that the Indians lived on should belong to white farmers. He signed the Indian Removal Act in 1830 that gave the federal government power to move the Indians off their land, east of the Mississippi to the "Indian colonization zone" that the U.S. acquired from the Louisiana Purchase.
